Alice Sue Anderson Cody

July 28, 1945 — July 18, 2025

Alice Sue Cody, age 79, passed away surrounded by her family on July 18, 2025. A native of Blue Ridge, Georgia, born July 28, 1945 to the late Earl and Berta Griggs Anderson. She was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Franklin, J.E., and Gene Anderson; sisters, Jeanette Barker and Geneva Cody.

At Fannin County High School, Alice was a standout athlete especially on the basketball court. She was known for her fierce determination and love for the game. That passion earned her the well-deserved title "Most Athletic." Alice was a longtime member of the Gem City Cloggers in which she enjoyed the rhythm of the dance as well as friendships made along the way. Beyond the dance floor, she had an extraordinary gift for design. That talent was shown through the custom uniforms designed for the team. She poured thought and care into every stitch ensuring the team look polished as they danced.

Alice met her late husband, Lester, of 56 years in Atlanta and lived in Acworth, Georgia where she retired from Lockheed Martin.

From the moment she woke each day until the last light faded, Alice lived and took care of others. She was always ensuring everyone else was okay before thinking of herself. Though she never sought recognition, her impact radiated through every life she touched. Her quiet strength and unwavering compassion were the pillars of her family and captured the heart of many. To the world, she may have been one person, to many, she was the world.

Alice is survived by her two daughters, Denise Fridl and husband, John, of Asheville, North Carolina and Ashley Picardo and husband, Ryan, of Ball Ground, Georgia. Alice is also survived by her sister Carol Jones and many nieces, nephews, and close lifelong family friends. Among those closest to her was her beloved nephew, Terry, who held a very special place in her heart. Their bond was more than family - it was a true friendship. He was always there for her offering constant love and companionship. His presence brought her great love and joy, especially during her later years.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Damascus Church graveside. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm immediately prior to the service at the Finch Chapel of Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home in McCaysville Georgia. A dear friend of the family and pastor, Jeff Atkins, will officiate the service and pall bearers will be members of her family: Terry Hembree, Timmy Hembree, Shawn Cody, Shane English, Kyle English, and Matt Henson.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Margrit "Pixie" Anslow, whose extraordinary care and friendship brought comfort and compassion during Alice's final months.
