Allen Conley

Allen Wayland Conley, 79, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away on January 8, 2026, surrounded by loving family. Allen was born February 18, 1946 in Murphy, North Carolina, the son of Wayland and Etta Conley, and called Blairsville home his entire life.

Allen married Brenda Cunningham Conley on June 28, 1968. In 57 years of marriage, Allen and Brenda shared two daughters: Laura and Karen. He is survived by his daughters, Karen and Bobby King and Laura and Chad Winkler. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren: Brittany and Ethan Martin, Zach Odom, Tyler and Lauren Odom, Lawson Baenninger, Layne Baenninger, Landry Baenninger, Heath and Ana King, Hallye and Adam Crisp, Luke and Madeline Winkler, and Cale Winkler; Stokley, Kori, and Etta Martin, Rory Odom, Ian, Hayes, and Beau King, and Abrahm Crisp. Also survived by his brother and sister, Burl and Inis Conley, Julia Ann Gray, mother-in-law, Ozie Cunningham, and sisters-in-law, Jean and Bill Jones and Sherry and Gerald Owenby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Joe Gray, and his father-in-law, Leroy Cunningham.

After serving as Deputy Clerk for 6 years, Allen served as the Union County Clerk of Superior Court for 24 years, retiring in 2008. His kindness, warmth, and humor made him a friend to everyone he met, and he never hesitated to help others in his family and community regardless of political party or status. A testament to his patience, Allen especially enjoyed tending to his garden and teaching each of his grandchildren how to drive. He enjoyed spending time outside, often sitting on his front porch sharing stories, jokes, and wisdom with his loved ones.

Visitation will be held at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home on Friday, January 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Ivy Log Cemetery with Reverend Stacy Dyer officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Zach Odom, Tyler Odom, Lawson Baenninger, Ethan Martin, Luke Winkler, and Heath King.
