On Friday afternoon, the 14th day of June 1929, Anne Morgan was born in Augusta, Georgia, to David Morgan and Mary Leona Mckenzie. On the 15th day of April 1949, Anne married James Benjamin Mincey, of Waynesboro, Georgia. They lived in Waynesboro until 1986, when they permanently moved to Blairsville, Georgia, to enjoy their retirement years.
Anne was the branch manager at the Bank of Waynesboro, where everyone lovingly referred to the branch as “Anne’s Bank”. A devoted gardener, she took delight in adding to God’s beauty by continually delving into her yard. She had more than one green thumb, always turning a patch of dirt into a park-like setting.
Anne was an avid golfer, winning several trophies along the way. Her greatest achievement on the greens was in June 1971 when she surprised herself with a hole-in-one. Being adventurous, she was always “ready to go” and traveled the world over. When she wasn’t traveling by car, train, plane, ship, or elephant, she arm-chair traveled between the pages of many books. She adored gathering and traveling with the infamous “Dragonflies” and the famed “Nottely Nomads”.
Anne completed her earthly travels on Tuesday morning, the 25th day of November 2025, when she received her angel wings and went to be with our LORD. She was a woman of strong, unwavering faith. She was a loyal member of Coosa Methodist Church for twenty-eight years. Anne enjoyed a long, full, beautiful, and spirited life, being most proud of her family.
Surviving Anne is her daughter Becky Quick (Butch); two grandchildren, Brad Welborn (Cara) and Katie Donnelly; three great-grandchildren, Dyllon Welborn, and Bailey and Allie Donnelly; sister, Marjorie Doss (Ronnie); and her good friend, Harold Anderson.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, James, her daughter, Gail Welborn, and seven siblings: Edward Morgan, Dorothy Lyons, Donald Morgan, Wayne Morgan, Tommy Morgan, Janice Weatherford, and Judy Dennis.
Our heartfelt gratitude to Home Instead and Appalachian Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anne’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
A private graveside service will be held at Coosa Methodist Church Cemetery, Blairsville, Georgia, at a future date.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
