Arthur Beacham (Buddy) Ball departed life peacefully on April 27, 2025,
surrounded by his loving family.
Buddy was born on February 8, 1942 in Athens, Georgia, to Frank Clark
Ball and Mary Beacham Ball, and grew up in Blairsville and Marietta,
Georgia. He attended Marietta High School, North Georgia College,
Georgia State University, and the University of Georgia. He spent his
working career in industrial development and postsecondary education
programs, retiring in 1997 from Gwinnett Tech.
Buddy married Dorothy Marie Jordan (Dotty) on June 19, 1965, who
remained his sweetheart for sixty years; they lived in Gainesville and raised
three sons in a home on Stephens Circle that personified love and
dedication. Following retirement, Buddy and Dotty moved back to his
beloved Blairsville, Georgia to live in peace and tranquility in a mountaintop
cabin.
Buddy was the embodiment of a dedicated husband, father, and family
man, heading a home that was saturated with love and support. He was a
nurturing coach, mentor, and fan to not only his boys, but a generation of
men that still reflect his influence. He was a loving and attentive husband
and never stopped courting and dating Dotty. His boys consider him the
ultimate dad, from helping with homework to teaching life skills, enjoying
the great outdoors, instilling a sense of patriotism, honor, and integrity,
supporting and encouraging them in all that they did, and always having an
open ear, wise counsel, and an enveloping hug. Following retirement, he
traveled the world with Dotty, remained active in his local church and
community, and poured his heart into his beloved grandchildren. He was
happy, cheerful, outgoing, never knew a stranger, and infected many with
his perpetual smile. His presence and influence will be missed by all who
knew him.
He is survived by his wife Dotty, brothers Clark Ball and Alan Ball, sons
Scotty Ball, Andy Ball, and Alex Ball, and grandchildren Jordan Ball
Baldwin, Nicole Ball, Ryan Ball, Carson Ball, Dawson Ball, Lexi Ball, and
Hayden Ball, and two great-grandchildren, Clark Ball and Lucy Baldwin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Coosa Methodist Church, 767 Mulky Gap Road, Blairsville, GA 30512, www.coosachurch.com.
