Bill Burnett, age 82, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Bill was born on February 28, 1943, in Blue Ridge, GA, to the late Otis and Ruby Burnett. A lifelong resident of his beloved hometown, Bill was a man of quiet strength and deep roots. He was known for his gentle spirit, steadfast devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures—especially fishing, picking his guitar, or tinkering in his shop. Whether he was sharing a fish tale from a day on the lake or lending a hand to fix just about anything for a friend or loved one, Bill found true joy in being useful and present. He found peace in nature and purpose in his passions, and he passed that love on to his children and grandchildren, who carry those memories forward.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Ruby Burnett; and his beloved sisters, Bette Stanley and Sue Cochran.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Lynda Burnett; sons, Johnny (Linda) Burnett and Russ (Kelly) Burnett; sister, Bobbie Taylor; brothers, Roger (Vivian) Burnett and Ricky (Debbie) Burnett; sister, Gail Burnett; and his treasured grandchildren, Derek Burnette, Nicholas Burnette, and Amelia Burnette. His legacy lives on through them, along with the many memories made on front porches, fishing banks, and family gatherings.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Chapel, with minister Danny Cline officiating. Congregational singing will be led by Bob Pugh.
Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Burnette, Nicholas Burnette, David Crawford, Mark Griffith, James Fitts, and Daniel Stanley.
Interment will follow at Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery in Blue Ridge, GA.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 12:30 PM until the service hour at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home & Crematory, Blue Ridge Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to Raintree Village Children’s Home or Georgia Agape Children’s Home—causes close to his heart.
