Blanche Naomi Candler, age 98, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025. Born on January 31, 1927, to Ira Patton and Effie (Paul) Colwell, Blanche lived a long and full life filled with many loved ones. Blanche loved being around people and found great joy in her community. A longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Union County, she lived out her faith through her generous heart. She was always looking for ways to help, making sure those around her had what they needed. Her warmth, kindness, and thoughtful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Candler Jr., with whom she shared many cherished years. Blanche is survived by her devoted daughter, Tommie Lynn Burrell, and son-in-law, Mark Burrell; her loving sister, Patsy Davenport; her granddaughters, Olivia (Cody) Graham and Gretchen (Brock) Gordon; her great-grandchildren, Sarah and Beau Graham; and several nieces and nephews whom she adored. Blanche was a thoughtful and caring individual who found joy in making others feel special, often through her kind words and actions.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9th, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Alexander officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 8th, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brock Gordon, Cody Graham, Craig Davenport, Milton Bradley, Ben Davenport, and Freddy Burrell. Blanche will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Flowers are welcome, or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Blanche's memory to the Union County Historical Society.
