Bobby Ferguson

Bobby Lee Ferguson, 86 of Wilmington, N.C. passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025. He was born on July, 15, 1939 and preceeded in death by his parents Samuel and Mary Dillard Ferguson and a sister, Lyla Godfrey.

Bobby was born in Aquone, N.C. and attended Nantahala School until joining the Marine Corp in 1956.

Bobby was Vietnam veteran serving in 1965 where he received a purple heart. He retired from the Marines in November 1977 at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, N.C. as a Warrant Officer III after 21 years of service.

After retiring Bobby and his family remained in the Jacksonville and Wilmington area where he established a career as a real estate broker and a construction company owner. Bobby continued running his businesses until his death.

Bobby enjoyed working with others in the business world, traveling, his children and grandchildren. His world consisted of projects, he was the happiest when he was working on any new or old construction project for himself or someone else.

Bobby was also anticipating the graduation of his granddaughter Laurel from Appalachian State University and the upcoming birth of twins from his grandson Chase and wife Anna that would make him a great-grandpa.

Beyond his career, Bobby will be remembered for his kindness, service to his country, sense of humor and dedication to his family.

Bobby is survived by his children, Jennifer Armstrong (her husband Jerry) of Ocean, N..C,; Jill Simpson (her husband Bryan) of Raleigh, N.C.; Shaun Ferguson (his wife, Jennifer) of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Kyle and wife Kristina of Hampton, VA.; Chase and wife Anna of Alameda, Ca.; Lindsey of Charleston, S.C.; Emily and husband Ryan of Durham, N.C. and Laurel of Raleigh, N.C; Avery, Ellie and Patrick of Charlotte, N.C. He is also survived by his sisters Wanda Salden of Royal Oaks, Ca.; Ann Henrie of Charlotte, N.C.; Caroline Percival of Jordan, Ut. and brothers Frank and Larry Ferguson of Hayesville, N.C.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home in Murphy, N.C. The Family will receive friends on Saturday at 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.  A graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM at Little Choga Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warriors and Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Bobby Lee Ferguson's honor.
