Cassandra (Sandra) Hughes Panter

Age: 79, Born: May 9th, 1944 in Murphy, NC and a life long resident of Cherokee County, the daughter of Lester Durand Hughes and Hansel Medlin Hughes. Sandra attended Murphy area schools.

She was the devoted wife of Clifford H. Panter for almost 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survived in addition to her husband, is a daughter Kelly Bryant and her husband Tony of Marble, NC. Daughters of her heart Mary Ann, Eva, Tracy, Kelly, and Jacqueline. Grandchildren of her heart Lou, Misty, Elizabeth, and Chrysta. Along with their children. One brother Rocky Hughes and wife Martha. Her cherished sister's and brother's in law. Many beloved nieces and nephews. And many friends and neighbors. her heart dog Midnight (Little Man).

Sandra's love of dirt track racing was known by all. She attended races for many years until her health no longer allowed.

She was a devoted fan of Bobby Panter and the 112 race team of Thurman Nicholson. She loved flowers, gardening, and reading. Her love of reading led her daughter Kelly to make her career in the library field.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
