David Wright

Mr. David Wright, age 79, passed away on June 16, 2024 in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia. Mr. Wright was born to the late George Mason and Sadie Humphries Wright on August 16, 1944 in Newberry, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Wright and sister Ann Wright.

Mr. Wright worked for many years with General Motors assembly plant in Doraville, Georgia. He was always a very independent man. David had a special skill as a craftsman doing woodwork. In his younger years, he enjoyed rolling skating. His passion for classic cars was a lifetime pleasure to him. He often enjoyed being out in God's created nature as a hunter. He was of the Christian faith in the Methodist denomination.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ross "Betsy" Wright; Son, Jay (Meghan) Wright; Daughter, Melissa "Missy" (Barry) Wilkerson; Brothers, James (Sherry) Wright in Florida and Perry (Mary) Wright of Georgia. Grandchildren; Dustin Wilkerson, Jude Wright, and Delaney Wright.

A visitation with the family will be held at the Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home McCaysville, Chapel on Monday, June 24, 2024 from 1pm to 2pm. The family will then go to Trinity Church in McCaysville, Georgia for a celebration of life service at 2pm. The family will gather at for interment after the celebration of life service in the Patterson Cemetery on Macedonia Road at 2:45pm. Pastor Phil Byler will be conducting the celebration of life and graveside service. Music will be by Judy Byler.
