Donald Leon Owensby

Donald Leon Owensby, age 78, of Murphy, North Carolina passed away on February 1, 2026 in Murphy, North Carolina. Mr. Owensby was born in Murphy, North Carolina, on February 13, 1947 to the late David Logan and Hazel Hughes Owensby. 

Mr. Owensby served his country with honor as a United States Marine. He worked in home improvement construction for many years. Donald enjoyed being out in God's created nature and especially enjoyed trout fishing. 

Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Thursday, February 5, 2026 , at 2:00 P.M. from the Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home in Murphy, North Carolina. 

A time of visitation will take place at the Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home in Murphy, North Carolina from 1:00 P.M. until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service hour. 

Interment will follow the funeral service in the Swanson Baptist Church Cemetery. 

The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: William Howard, Wade Howard, Tristen Howard, Reece Howard, and Vicent Stuart. 

Honorary pallbearers include: Teddy Stiles, Doug Prince and Wade Howard.
