Doris Darlene Hitt

Doris Darlene Hitt, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered the presence of the Lord on August 30, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on August 10, 1931, in Marietta, Georgia, to the late Hoke and late Alma Stell Dobbs, Doris exemplified a life of love, selfless dedication to her family, and an unwavering faith.

Doris was a skilled seamstress at her workplaces and also used her skills to make many things for her family and community. A devoted member of her community, she was the backbone and rock of her family, embodying the virtues of a Proverbs 31 woman. Known for her kind spirit, she was a prayer warrior and a loving caretaker. Doris enjoyed working with children and in the nursery at Morganton Baptist Church. Her lifelong faith in the Lord began at the tender age of nine when she accepted Christ at Mary's Memorial Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia. She also enjoyed singing in the choir.

Doris loved watching the birds, tending to her yard, and cooking for her family. She will be fondly remembered for her famous fried chicken and chicken and dumplings.

Doris was preceded in death by: her parents; sisters, Betty Carden and Katherine Rivell; and son-in-law, Stephen Cochran.

A devoted mother, she sacrificed for her children and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Linda) Hitt and Debra Cochran; grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Damon) Whiting, Shannon (David) McArthur, Joshua (Brandy Walker) Cochran, Gabriel (Amanda) Cochran, and David (Darlena) Cochran; great-grandchildren, Olivia Cochran, Lily Grace Russell, Mary Claire Russell, Desiree (JC) Diosdado, Calli Reas and Jennings Poole.

Doris is also survived by her beloved sister, Judy (Neal) Warren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her.

A Funeral Service to honor the life of Doris has been set for Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Chapel, with the Rev. Eric Kincaid and Rev. Dylan Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Copperhill, Tennessee, with the following serving as pallbearers: Gabriel Cochran, David Cochran, Joe Warren, Mike Hitt, Debra Cochran, Damon Whiting, and David McArthur.

The family will recieve friends on the same day prior to the service from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM, at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel, Blue Ridge Chapel.

Doris leaves behind a profound legacy of love and faith that will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
