Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death of Dorothy Mae Hardy, age 73, of Hiawassee, who passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee.
Mrs. Hardy was born in Fulton County, Georgia, on August 4, 1936, a daughter of the late Clifford Barton and Frankie Jones Barton. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Barton moved to Hiawassee in October 2009, from Clayton County, Georgia. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Dyer; a brother, Donnie Barton; and two sisters: Edna Turner and Kathleen Alewine.
Surviving family members include daughter and son-in-law, Denise and James Nicholson, of Hiawassee; a brother, Wayne Barton, of McDonough, Georgia; two sisters: Mildred Bloodworth and Evelyn Riddle, both of of Newnan, Georgia; Grandchildren: Joshua Cason, Paul Cason, Fonya Cason, Rheanna Nicholson, and Daniel Nicholson; great grandchildren: Jasmine Holbert, Kameron Holbert, Jacob Nicholson, Jayden Holbert, and Jamison Ingram.
Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating. The family will meet with friends on 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee.
