Edith Ruth Zak

Edith Ruth Zak age 88 of Suches, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in Blairsville, Georgia. She was born on January 3, 1938, in Cleveland, Tennessee, to Durance and Alice Caldwell.

Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Zak, her son, Michael Zak, her father, Durance Caldwell, and her mother, Alice Caldwell.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Steven (Cheryl) Zak, Robert (Stephanie) Zak, and Lisa (Pete) Marin.

Edith is lovingly remembered by her niece, Kathi Vandermolen and her grandchildren, David Zak, Christopher Zak, Megan (Mike) Burnham, Corissa Zak, Mariah (Bryan) Proctor, Nick (Eliza) Marin, Matt Marin, and Will Marin, and her great-grandchildren, Ansley Zak, Grayson Zak, Easton Zak, Austin Burnham, Nico Zak, and Scarlett Proctor.

She also loved and cherished her step-grandchildren, Jonathon and Kristin Shuler, John Newton and her step-great-grandson, Royce Slavik, who were an important part of her life.

Edith was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished members of her family. She treasured the time she spent with those she loved and created many special memories that will remain with her family forever. Her love, kindness, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Edie enjoyed volunteering as a Pink Lady at the Fannin County Hospital.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home, Blue Ridge Chapel.

A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM, with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan and Rev. Chris Clark officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Doug Simonds.
