Edwin Allan Stearns, Sr.

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mr. Edwin "Eddie" A. Stearns, Sr., 88, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away on Sunday, March 14th, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Stearns was born in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late Lester M. Stearns, Sr. and the late Mildred Godsel Stearns. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and had worked for CSX Railroad as a railroad switching conductor. Eddie was a beloved member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville. He loved poetry.

Eddie had been preceded in death by a son, Edwin A. Stearns, Jr. His loving family members include his wife of 64 years, Jimmie Ruth Stearns; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Elizabeth Stearns; and son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kim Stearns. Grandchildren: Channin Stearns, Amber Stearns, Michelle Stearns, Edwin Allan Stearns, III, Jessica Stearns, and Kristine Stearns. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, March 19th, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home, with Rev. Derrick Hartley officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Park Cemetery in Marietta, Georgia, on Saturday, March 20th, 2021 at 11:30 a.m., with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.

Visitation at the funeral home will be on Friday, starting at 11:00 a.m. at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, and will last until 1:00 p.m., when the funeral services begin.
