Mrs. Effie Lorene Payne, age 90 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007.
Mrs. Payne was born Monday, April 16, 1917 in Union County, Georgia to the late Landon Rich and Melvina Flowers Rich. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was preceded in death by husband, Loyd Payne, brothers, Floyd, L.A., Fred, Ernest, Marshall and Elbert Rich, sister, Louria Hunt.
Survivors include: son, Lanier Payne and Joan of Blairsville, GA, grandson, Eric Landon Payne and Millie of Lexington, KY, great-grandson, Franklin Lloyd Payne of Lexington, KY, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Cline officiating. Music will be provided by Odena Gibson and the Union County Singers. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Eric Payne, Shirley Rich, Kay Lewis, Charles Brackett, Homer Powell, Wayne Roberts, and Presley Rich. Honorary pallbearers include: Troy King and Willie Long.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Tuesday, April 24.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Cemetery Fund or Regency Hospice.
The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
