Elsa "Christie" Christina Burgess

Elsa Christina Burgess, affectionately known as Christie, passed away on November 2, 2026, at the age of 38.

Born on October 4, 1988, in Chesapeake, Virginia, Christie was a beautiful, sweet, and kind-hearted woman whose fun-loving personality and independent spirit made her uniquely special. She had a way of bringing joy to those around her, and her love for life could be seen in the things that made her happiest.

Christie graduated from Brookwood High School in 2007. She continued her education at East Georgia State College before transferring to Georgia Southern University.

Christie was a beautiful, sweet, and kind-hearted woman with a fun-loving personality and an independent spirit. She was never one to simply follow the crowd; she marched to the beat of her own drum and lived life in her own way. Her individuality, warmth, and love for life made her uniquely special. She loved music and dancing, spending time at the beach, horseback riding, and enjoying life's simple pleasures. Her beloved dog, Reecie, also held a special place in her heart.

Above all, Christie was a loving mother to her six-year-old son, Charlie, who was the center of her world. Charlie, who is on the autism spectrum, brought a special and irreplaceable joy to her life. The love between a mother and her child is something that words can never fully express, and the love Christie had for Charlie will forever be a part of her legacy.

Christie also shared a very special bond with her brother, Nicholas. As his only sibling and baby sister, she held a place in his heart that no one could ever fill. The two shared a friendship and a love that went far beyond the bond of brother and sister. Christie considered Nicholas her best friend, and he loved her more than words could ever express. Though she may be gone, she will forever remain his little sister, his best friend, and a cherished part of his life.

Christie's Christian faith was an important part of her life. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle heart, independent spirit, and the joy and laughter she brought to those fortunate enough to know her. She is survived by her beloved son, Charlie; her father, Thomas Burgess; her mother, Elsa Burgess; her brother, Nicholas Burgess; and her former husband, Matthew Huff. She will also be lovingly remembered by extended family members and friends whose lives she touched.

Though Christie's time with us was far too short, her memory will live on through her son, her family, and the countless memories she leaves behind. She will forever be our beloved Christie - a daughter, a mother, a sister, and a friend. She is free in the hands of our Lord and forever at peace.
