Ernest Chester Nix

Ernest Chester Nix, age 81, of Epworth, Georgia, passed away on September 26, 2026, at Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, GA. He was born on March 23, 1945, to the late Chester and Grace Nix, in Jonesboro, Illinois.

A lifelong enthusiast of the great outdoors, Ernest found great joy in hunting and bass fishing. He loved days on the lake fishing with family and friends. He was a passionate supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs, always ready to cheer them on during game days. He was a Christian, and he enjoyed attending Highland City Church. Earnest was a hard worker and enjoyed a career as a fleet mechanic at Pepsi.

Ernest’s greatest joy, however, came from his family. He is survived by son and daughters; Michael (Casey) Nix, Tonya (Barry) Nix , Shelley (Mark) Keaton, and Teresa Adams. Grandchildren: Heather (Charles) Vosburgh, Joshua (Shelby) Nix, Ryan (McKinley) Nix, Rusty (Jennifer) Keaton, Victoria (Evan) Chastain, Hayli (Dalton) Dillard, Kristyn (Logan) Taylor, and Brittany Adams; great-grandchildren: Kale, Aubrey, Marlie, Emery, Phen, Beau, Nora, Lawson, Ellie, Ronan, soon to be born Oliva Ann and baby girl. His grandchildren brought immense delight to his life, softening his heart and enriching his spirit.

He was preceeded in death by the love of his life, Helen Hopkins Nix, his parents, and sisters, Anna Pearl “Nicki” Grooms and Dora May Motter.

A celebration of life will held October 24, 2026 11:00am at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Blue Ridge Chapel.
