Evelyn Jean (Barry) Sickler, 78, of Murphy, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at the hospital in Murphy. She was born on March 27, 1947, in Staten Island, New York, and throughout her life she was known for her creativity, kindness, and unwavering love for her family.
Evelyn worked as a Network Analyst for Sprint Telephone, where she built a respected career before retiring to pursue her passions. After retirement, she joyfully ran her own home-based business on Etsy and Amazon Handmade, sharing her creativity with others around the world. A talented seamstress and crafter, she loved sewing, cooking, and bringing joy to those around her with the things she made.
She and her beloved husband, Duncan Reid Sickler, shared many travels and adventures together before settling in the mountains of Murphy, North Carolina, where they enjoyed a peaceful and fulfilling life.
Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband, Duncan; her daughter, Traci Kutsko and husband Ed; and her son, Christopher Wayne Campbell. She was a proud grandmother to Justin and Jessica Kutsko, Amanda Davis, and Cory Campbell; and a great-grandmother to Amanda's three sons, who brought her much joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Mae Barry and Clifford T. Barry, and her grandson, Christopher James Campbell.
She will be remembered as a woman of warmth, laughter, and boundless creativity, whose presence touched every life she encountered. Evelyn's love for her family and her zest for life will forever remain in their hearts.
A service to honor and celebrate Evelyn's life will be held at a later date.
