Frances Josephine Leatherwood

Frances Josephine Leatherwood, age 91, went to be with the Lord on September 11, 2026. She was born in Loving, GA, to Bascom and Jessie Hughes Abercrombie.

She was a devout Christian and had a big heart and kind spirit. Frances loved to bake and her coconut cakes were a masterpiece. She kept her home spotless and doted on her family and grandkids. 

Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her first husband Frank Harper and Son Jimmy Harper; second husband Mance J. Leatherwood; and brother Harold Abercrombie.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Mike) Dillard, three sisters Ann, Pat, and Barbara. Three grandchildren, Carrie (Josh) Roberts, Amanda (Gabriel) Cochran, and Courtney Watters. Five great-grandchildren Isabelle Roberts, Madeline Roberts, Evelyn Roberts, Olivia Cochran, and Gweni Watters.

The family will receive friends at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Homes & Crematories- Blue Ridge Chapel on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 1:00-2:00pm.

A graveside service will follow on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 2:00pm at Chastain Memorial Park with Matthew McDaniel officiating.
