Frederick Schwartz, a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at his home on June 6, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 24, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, Frederick was a man whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience.

Frederick was the youngest son of Olga Marie Simonsmeier and Frederick Henry Schwartz. Frederick was known as a hardworking man who valued responsibility and took pride in providing for those he loved. What stood out most to family and friends was his devotion to family, which remained at the center of his life.

Frederick was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Ervin, Edwin, and Harold Schwartz, his sisters Erna Doocy, Florence Clayton, Lillian Smith, Evelyn Johnson, and Betty Smith, his wife, Rose DeCosta, whom he married on October 17, 1959, in Lowell, Massachusetts, and their beloved son, Steven Schwartz. His legacy is carried forward by his loving daughter, Sheila St Germain, and his cherished granddaughter, Amanda Soucy, who were both the light of his life.

Frederick's journey began in Swea City, where he graduated from Swea City High School on May 20, 1957. Shortly after, he answered the call of duty and served honorably in the U.S. Army until February 29, 1964. His service took him to Sinop, Turkey, where he spent time serving and protecting his country with the same commitment he devoted to all aspects of his life.

Professionally, Frederick was a respected federal food inspector, a role he approached with meticulous attention to detail. Later in his career, he worked for Warwick Poultry and Lifetime Kia where he was embraced as part of the family.

Frederick's life was enriched by his passions, among which pheasant hunting held a special place. Yet, it was his family that truly captured his heart. He treasured moments spent with his loved ones in Iowa, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

His unwavering love and support were constants in the lives of those he held dear. Frederick was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes, embodying a profound strength and compassion that left a lasting impact on everyone around him. As we celebrate his remarkable journey, we find comfort in knowing that he is reunited with those he loved and missed.
