Glenda Adams

August 21, 1935 — December 9, 2023

Glenda Brown Adams, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on December 9, 2023. She was born on August 21, 1935, in Atlanta, GA, to the late William and Flora Brown.

Throughout her career as a travel agent, Glenda found immense joy in helping others explore the world. Her passion for travel extended beyond her professional life, as she too embraced the opportunity to see new places. Glenda's adventures allowed her to create countless cherished memories that she carried with her until the end. In addition to her work as a travel agent, she was a realtor and introduced many new home buyers to the housing market along the Gulf Coast of Florida.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Glenda had a wide range of hobbies and interests she enjoyed greatly. She was actively involved in organizing and participating in events for her high school graduation class of 1953, always looking forward to reunions and reconnecting with old friends. In her younger years, Glenda excelled in high school sports and later became an avid tennis player known for her competitive nature on the court.

Glenda had a very dear friendship with a group of longtime highschool classmates who dubbed themselves "The Yahoo Girls". Glenda, along with "Baldy", Carol, Joyce and Georgia went on many adventures together. Planning daytime trips and weekend retreats, they would play cards and relive the days of highschool. Their long-standing friendships stood the rest of time.

After moving to the Blairsville area, Glenda became very involved in the First United Methodist Church. She assisted with the annual fundraisers and joined the Oasis program where she took classes, made many new friends and became a teacher for the card game Hand and Foot.

Not only was Glenda skilled at exploring the world and winning sports matches, but she was also an exceptional cook who loved hosting and entertaining guests. She spent much time with her best friends, Diane and Harold Richardson, creating new recipes. Her warm hospitality made every gathering memorable and filled with delicious food prepared with love. As an avid fan of Elvis and Tom Selleck's work, Glenda appreciated entertainment that brought joy to her life.

Glenda's quick wit and charm made her a true southern lady, known for her endearing southern sayings. Her mantra in life was simple yet powerful: "Believe; be faithful."

However, Glenda's proudest accomplishment in life was undoubtedly her family. She loved her children with all her heart and adored her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Glenda Lee Lade Adams, Jacqueline Egli, Suzanne Checefsky, and Katie Adams; grandchildren Jason Egli, and Kelli Egli.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Flora Brown; brother William Brown Jr; and son Gerald Robert Lade.

Glenda Brown Adams will be dearly missed by her surviving family and friends who hold cherished memories of her kind-hearted nature and contagious laughter.
