J. L. Wright, 80, of Murphy, North Carolina, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, in Murphy, NC. J. L. was born February 18, 1943, in Seco, KY to John and Rachel Wright. J.L. Was married to the love of his life, Betty Sue, for 63 years. J.L enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to gospel music, and was in his own group for many years. He later started a junior gospel group called the "Sunrise Singers". J.L. was the youth minister at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, AR, and later became the youth and educational minister for Central Baptist Church in Americus, GA. Most of all, J.L. loved his family dearly and enjoyed every moment with them.
J. L. was preceded in death by father, John Wright and mother, Rachel Day. He is survived by his spouse Betty Sue Wright; brother Robert Wright; sister Emma Nave; daughter Anita (Terry) Ford; son Jim (Christine) Wright; grandchildren Cassandra Smith; Kristoffer (Ashley) Wright; Jonathan (Allie) Carson; Kylie (Tim) Mims; Jefferson Carson; Tara Ford; Kim Ford; great-grandchildren Gabriel Smith; Riley Smith; Jaxson Wright; Grady Wright; Abel Wright; Charlie May Wright; Molly James Carson; Jeffrey Miles Carson; Marci Mims; Mishell Mims; Max Mims; Evelyn Grace Mims; Bo Alan Mims; Ariel Loosier-Ford; Jennifer Theesfeld.
Services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 2:30pm on November 16.
