Ootlewah, TN

Jack E Daves, 88, of Ooltewah, TN, went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2024. He was born June 25, 1935, in Morganton, GA, to the late Ernest Homer Daves and Evah Turner Daves. He was also preceded in death by brother Tom Daves and brother-in-law Jim Woody.

Jack loved the Lord, his wife Ellen of 63 years, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren dearly.

He is survived by his darling wife Ellen Floyd Daves; son Scott (Paula) Daves, daughter Michelle (J.D.) Nicholas, and son Kevin (Jada) Daves. Grandchildren Brittany (Peyton) Horne, Elijah (Hannah) Daves, Jordan (Allie) Clark, Nehemiah Daves, Jared (Amber) Nicholas, Josiah (Hayli) Daves, Shayli Daves, Sharayah Daves, Shanel Daves, Shaw Daves, and Shafer Daves. Great grandchildren, Ezra Clark, Isaiah Clark, Aryanna Daves, Lydia Daves, Ryker Daves, Vincent, Reed, Knox Horne, and soon to arrive Ada Clark. In addition, his sister Mary Joe Woody, brother Jerry (Gail) Daves, and sister-in-law Anne Daves.

In addition to his successful career with First Federal/AmSouth Bank of 32 years as Vice President, he enlisted in the Navy after graduating from Fannin County High School in Blue Ridge, GA. He then attended the University of Georgia in which he received a B.S. Degree.

Jack was a member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN, and previously served as a deacon at Spring Creek Road Baptist Church in East Ridge, TN.

Jack lived out his faith by his actions such as reading the Bible every night to his wife Ellen, praying before each meal, thanking the Lord for all the blessings in life, and constant love and care for Ellen with Alzheimer's. Jack built a home on earth with God as the center of it all. Even

though death hurts, rest assured Jack was a good and faithful servant and is with Jesus. He could always be heard praising the Lord and singing some favorite hymns such as "The Old Rugged Cross" and "It is Well with My Soul."

Jack lived a full life and enjoyed just having fun. He grew up playing tennis, golf, and ping pong with all the family, and taking trips for his competitions in the Senior Olympics. He loved taking walks in the local parks as it reminded him of the days traversing the Blue Ridge mountains with his dad. He would tell stories about time spent with his dad and how it is never too late to get your life right with the Lord. One of his favorite Bible verses was Proverbs 3:5-6.

Jack left footprints on everyone's life that came his way. He was a generous and humble man, giving behind the scenes to those in need without recognition.
