John “Jack” Schroeder, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away on April 22, 2025, in Blairsville, Georgia. Mr. Schroeder was born on July 25, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York to the late John Frederick and Margaret Schmitt Schroeder. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Nancy Schroeder.
Jack was truly a larger-than-life figure. He lived life at full throttle. He had a creative mind and a keen sense of humor, giving others great joy. He was a mentor and encourager. Jack’s heart was one of gold in serving and helping to meet the needs of others. He didn’t meet a stranger and talked to anyone about his Lord, Jesus Christ. His love for the Lord shone brightly to others around him. Mr. Schroeder spent his life in a variety of careers as a self-employed businessman. Most recently, he was in life insurance and annuities, helping people any way he could. In 2019, Jack felt the call to spread God’s word through radio. He and his wife, Pam, purchased a small low power radio station and aligned themselves with Today’s Christian Country. In 2024, Jack joined the Board of Directors for Legacy Broadcasting and helped set up a new Today’s Christian Country station for Blairsville (WCRY, 89.9 FM) that now reaches as far as Hiawassee, Andrews, Murphy, Blue Ridge and the top of Stone Mountain, where the signal joins the signal of sister station WCDG, 88.7 FM.
Mr. Schroeder is survived by his wife, Pamela Schroeder; his children, Greg Schroeder, Beth (Kevin) Sheedy, Mike (Jen) Schroeder, Gretchen Schroeder, Kris Cavanaugh, and Annie (Rik) Tykwinski, his brother Don (Jean) Schroeder and grandchildren: Connor Sheedy, Sarah Sheedy, Maddie Schroeder, Alex Schroeder, Sydney (Dajuan) Shanklin, Brett Tykwinski, and Alex Tykwinski.
