Jackie R. Colwell

Mrs. Jackie R. Colwell, age 82, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on August 30, 2026. Jackie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was born on February 17, 1944, to Cecil and Willene (Jackson) Rich. She retired from Union County School System. Jackie dedicated many years to the school system, where she enjoyed interacting with all the students and staff. Jackie was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

Jackie was devoted to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook. Her servant's heart led her to help people in any way she could. Jackie loved to travel and spend time with her family, who will remember her as a caring and fun-loving matriarch. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and maintaining her lawn. Past times included Nascar, special outings with friends and sharing stories of her childhood memories.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Colwell; parents, Cecil and Willene Rich; brothers, Bennie Rich and Sidney "Sid" Rich; and sister, Dobie Brackett.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina (Earl) Sullivan; son, Trannis (Misty) Colwell; daughter-in-law Jennifer Colwell; 5 grandchildren, Kaley Sullivan, Coleman (Marah) Sullivan, Logan Colwell, Jackson (Annabelle) Colwell, and Claire (Khole) Greene; 9 great-grandchildren, Oakley Hodge, Kayden Gann, Drake Sullivan, Charlie Sullivan, Saylor Allen, Stella Mae Greene, Georgia Colwell, Hudson Colwell, and Lila Kate Colwell; 5 step-grandchildren, Brayden (Haleigh) Snow, Kaylyn Thompson, Nolan Thompson, Bobby Thompson, and Elizabeth Thompson; a sister, Claudine (Jimmy) Thomas and beloved aunt Elouise “Weezy” Sexton. Many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jackie wanted to give a special thanks to Union General hospital, doctors, nurses and staff.Public Visitation will be held Monday, 31st of August, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home & Crematory Blairsville Chapel.

Services for Mrs. Jackie Colwell will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Harmony Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Scotty Jarrard, Jerry Carnes, and Edward Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville.

The following gentlemen and ladies will serve as pallbearers; Coleman Sullivan, Kaley Sullivan, Logan Colwell, Claire Colwell, and Cory Thomas. Jackson Colwell will serve as pallbearer in spirit, although he will not be able to attend due to military service. The following gentlemen will serve as honorary pallbearers; Charles Rich, Jerry Rich, Bobby Rich, Ricky Rich, and Larry Rich.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harmony Grove Baptist Church.
