We're announcing the passing of James Edward Mashburn, a cherished husband, father, and friend, who left us peacefully on January 7, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Blairsville, Georgia. Born on May 18, 1933, James lived a life rich with community spirit, family love, and a deep faith that guided him throughout his years.
A lifelong resident of Blairsville, Edward was a dedicated member of Ebenezer Church for over 77 years, where he faithfully served as a Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader. Edward was a model of family values, always placing his loved ones above all else. He was an avid fan of Bluegrass Gospel music, often sharing his passion by attending festivals and performing with fellow musicians across the region. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Clyde Mashburn and Vonnie Smith Mashburn; his brothers, Robert Mashburn, Junior Mashburn, and Richard Mashburn.
