Mr. James Gary Mulkey, age 74, of Marble, North Carolina passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026 at his home in Marble, North Carolina. James was born on August 28, 1951 to the late James Pinkney Mulkey and Bonnel Gilleland Mulkey in Canton, Georgia.
Mr. Mulkey is survived by his wife, Debbie Mulkey; daughter, Christy Yancey and grandaughter, Olivia Yancey; son, Larry (Elizabeth) Moore; grandsons, Syler and Harper Moore; also survived by Kelley (Daniel) Brooks; grandsons, Dean and Samuel Brooks; Step-kids, Christin Whaley, Patrick (Katie) Whaley; grandchildren, Piper and Mason Whaley.
James was blessed to have many brothers and sisters; Tommy (Wanda) Mulkey, Terry (Reudene) Mulkey, Debbie (Johnny) Wilkins and Gayle Wilkins. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
James enjoyed motorcycles, civil war history, and western movies. He enjoyed good sports games, including the Atlanta Braves or Georgia Bulldogs. Spending time with his family was very important to him. Mr. Mulkey was a member of the Upper Peachtree Baptist Church where he deeply loved his church family. James worked at Lucent Technologies for 30 years.
Funeral services are scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Upper Peachtree Baptist Church in Murphy, North Carolina with Pastor Derek Tilley officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Peachtree Community Cemetery with Jason Kilian officiating at the graveside.
The family of James Mulkey will be receiving friends in a time of visitation on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Upper Peachtree Baptist Church in Murphy, North Carolina from 12 noon until the 2:00 P.M. funeral service hour.
The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Daniel Brooks, Jeremy Mulkey, Jacob Mulkey, Dillon Mulkey, Kevin McGinnis, Patrick Whaley and Samuel Haas.The family would like to give special thanks to the Hospice of NC; especially, Crystal, Krista and Jasmine.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations in James Mulkey's memory be made to the Upper Peachtree Baptist Church.
