James W. Warren, age 95, passed away on June 21, 2024. James was born in Meigs, GA to the late Governor Warren and Claudia Mae Warren.

His early years were marked by his service to his country. In 1952, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the Army Air Force. Following his military service, he enrolled at Southern Polytechnic on the recommendation of his Aunt and Uncle. There, he earned a degree in Architectural Engineering. After completing his degree, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He dedicated many years to the State of Georgia Department of Administrative Services as the Telecommunications Director.

During his time in the U.S. Army Airforce, James was trained as a radio operator for the B-29 Bombers at the Kadena Airforce base in Okinawa Japan. He was a member of the 316 the Bombardment Unit, the first unit responsible for operating the base.

One of the many memorable chapters of James's life was during his teenage years when he took on the responsibility of running the Watermelon Growers of the South Radio Station in Moultrie, GA from the ages of 16 to 17. This early display of leadership and passion for community involvement hinted at the remarkable individual James would grow up to be.

He was preceded in death by his parents Governor and Claudia Mae Warren; siblings Dorothy Warren Tyson, Corrine Warren Rentfrow, Lynwood Warren, and Van Hiram Warren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marcelline Warren; and siblings, Wayne Warren of Omega, GA, Janice Warren Stephens of Omega, GA, and Faye Warren Childers of Omega, GA.

James W. Warren will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that his memory will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
