James Gordon White

James "Jimmy" Gordon White, 66 of Morganton, Ga, passed away on July 15, 2026.

Jimmy was born in Jacksonville, Fl to the late James O'Neal White and Audrey Elaine (Allen) White. He spent much of his career as a car machinist before working in well drilling and water services for many years prior to his retirement in 2022. More than anything, he will be remembered for the life he brought into every room with music and laughter.

Jimmy was a gifted musician with a remarkable talent for playing almost any instrument. Though he did not read music, he played entirely by ear, a gift that allowed him to perform with many bands throughout the years. Music was simply a part of who he was.

Jimmy also had a love for adventure, especially roller coasters. His children fondly remember trips to Ghost Town, where he'd ride The Red Devil over and over without getting off because there wasn't a line. Those memories of laughter and excitement will be treasured forever.

He was known for his quick wit, mischievous sense humor and the occasional inappropriate joke that somehow always made someone laugh.

Jimmy is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Vonda; his 3 children, Heather White of Sandy Springs, Ga, Kyle (Brittney) White, of Birmingham, Al, Mandy (T.R.) Durkan of Rocky Face, Ga and his 3 grandchildren, Braydi, Ayden and Kye Burnett. He also leaves behind his brother Keith White and niece, Rachel Nicholson.

The memories he created through music, laughter and time spent will be cherished by his family.
