James William Mashburn

James "William" Mashburn, age 86, of Morganton, GA, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Morganton, GA. William was born June 25, 1940, in Morganton, GA to Claude and Blanche Mashburn. 

William was preceded in death by his father, Claude Mashburn; mother, Blanche Mashburn; brother, Charlie Mashburn; and sisters, Willia Mae Naylor, Ruth Maney, and Ann Loftis. 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Faye Mashburn; son, William "Bill" (Sandra) Mashburn; daughter, Janet Hawkins; sister, Sarah Watkins; brother, Gary Mashburn; grandchildren, Tyler Mashburn and Samantha (Nick) Sunderland; and great-grandchild Maggie Sunderland.

He was a devoted member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed attending classic car shows and restoring his 1940 Ford coupe.

Funeral Service, on Thursday July 2, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Adams and Rev. Scott Watkins officiating. There will be a lie-in-state viewing at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 2, 2026. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Tyler Mashburn, Caleb Barnes, Daniel Cofer, Don Gibbs, Ronnie Hilton, and Rusty Roberson. 

Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mineral Bluff, GA. 

The family will receive friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Blue Ridge Chapel on Wednesday, July 01, 2026, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
