Joan Virginia Parker

Joan Virginia Parker, age 73, of Morganton, GA, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Joan was born January 23, 1953, in Cleveland, OH to Charles and Mildred Newman. 

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, George Parker; father, Charles Newman; and mother, Mildred Hunter Newman Odom.

She is survived by her son, Travis (Kayla) Parker; sister, Milly Waters; step-brother, Tim Odom; grandchildren, Kaydence Patterson, Cooper Patterson, and Paisley Parker; nephew, Chris (Sonja) Waters; nieces, Carrie (Chris) Montooth and Crystal Leitner; and great nieces, Rylee Waters and Reese (Jeremy) Faulk; and many other great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Service, on Sunday August 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Morganton, GA. with Rev. Grady Ray officiating. 

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Matthew Dalrymple, Chris Gilliam, Dalton Gilliam, Justin Henry, Chris Waters, and Chris Montooth. 

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, in Morganton, GA. 

The family will receive friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home of Blue Ridge Chapel on Saturday, August 08, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
