John Robert Donaldson

John Robert Donaldson, better known as Bob, born on March 12, 1940, in Georgia, passed away peacefully in his home in McCaysville, GA. Bob lived a robust life, known for his many talents and interests, particularly his love for fishing. A dedicated angler, he proudly secured numerous wins in fishing tournaments, showcasing his passion for the sport.

Bob served in the Army from May 1, 1963, to April 30, 1965, where he achieved the rank of E-4. His time in the service made him a qualified expert on rifle shooting and a sharpshooter, and he often reminisced about those days with pride. After his military service, he worked as a repairman for Cities Service - Tennessee Chemical Company, where he was a valued member of the team.

As a devoted Christian, Bob found joy in his family, especially in the company of his granddaughters, Bri and Mykayla. Whether it was fishing trips or simply spending time together, he cherished every moment with them. He is survived by his daughter, Sina Wilson, son-in-law Phillip Wilson, and his beloved granddaughters, Bri (Brad Gunazenheiser) Wilson and Mykayla (Dale White) Wilson, who will carry on his legacy of love and adventure. Bob will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, and the countless fond memories he created throughout his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Donaldson, father, Weldon Donaldson, mother, Lucille Donaldson, and beloved step-father, Willard Paul (Bill) Johnson.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home - McCaysville Chapel, with Rev. Matthew McDaniel and Rev. Sammy Ledford officiating.

The family will meet with friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home - McCaysville Chapel on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 1:30 PM until the funeral service.
