John E Grauley

Dr. John Edwin Grauley, of Young Harris, Georgia, entered eternal rest in the presence of his Savior on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie, his sister, Ruth Ann Stovicek of Wilmington, DE, his three children, James Grauley, Lynn Westergren, and Karen Matthews, and his nine grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. John Grauley was born February 21, 1934, in Claymont, Delaware.. He grew up in Worthland, the historic Worth Steel community, and graduated in 1952 from Claymont High School where he played varsity football and basketball and began his lifelong interest in music.

John joined the U.S. Coast Guard after high school and served through an honorable discharge. He attended Philadelphia College of Art for one year before enrolling at Shelton College, in Ringwood, New Jersey. He graduated from Shelton College in 1957. During his time at Shelton, John was called to be a minister of the Gospel. He also met his wife, Marjorie Ann Ross, of Pittsburgh, PA, during those years. They were married in August 1959, after John began attending Faith Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Grauley completed his education with a Master of Divinity from Faith Seminary and later, a Doctor of Ministries from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

Dr. Grauley served in Christian ministry for 55 years as a missionary, seminary professor, counselor, and senior pastor. His held positions with Bible Presbyterian Missions, Far Eastern Bible College (Singapore), Bible Evangelism Ministries, as a founding faculty member of Biblical Theological Seminary (PA), as Director of Middle Georgia Pastoral Counseling Center, First Presbyterian Church, Macon, GA, and as pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Butler, PA, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Gainesville, GA, and most recently Grace Presbyterian Church of Blairsville, GA. Dr Grauley retired in 2009, at the age of 75.

Dr. John Grauley leaves a legacy of faithful service to his calling, to the teaching and preaching of the Bible and the gospel of Jesus Christ, wherever ministry took him. He also leaves a legacy of a loving husband, father, grandfather, and spiritual mentor to many around the United States and the world.

Dr. Grauley was buried in Blairsville, GA. A celebration of life/memorial service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church in Blairsville, GA on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00am.
