Johnny Curtis Taylor

May 29, 1965 — January 22, 2026

Johnny Curtis Taylor, 60, of Hiawassee, GA, passed away on January 22, 2026. He was born on May 29, 1965, in Young Harris, GA, to Noel & Shirley Taylor. He married the love of his life, Irma "Woodring" Taylor, in 1985, and they welcomed their precious daughter, Kayla Taylor, in 1994.

He was known for his big personality, and those that knew him best would say he lacked a filter, but was quick to apologize. He had a humble spirit and loved the Lord. He was saved as a teenager, and the assurance of heaven carried him through some of the darkest times in his life.

Johnny had a passion for the outdoors, particularly enjoying motorcycles and four-wheelers. His adventurous side shone through as he competed in racing and hill climbing, always seeking the thrill of the next challenge. Music was another significant part of his life; he played guitar in a basement band with his lifelong friend, Clevey White. He wrote a song and played during a performance at the Georgia Mountain Fair. He loved rock music and hanging out with his friends. In his later years, MS prevented him from doing so many of the things he loved. However, he kept his love for music and loved spending time with friends and family, and talking about the good old days. He was also particularly proud of his two grandsons and would optimistically say he was going to teach them how to hill climb one day.

He is survived by his loving wife Irma Taylor; mother Shirley Taylor; daughter Kayla Taylor Ledford; son-in-law Marcus Ledford;grandchildren Garrett Clay Ledford, and Lucas Samuel Ledford; and brother-in-law Eric Woodring. He is preceded in death by his father Noel Taylor.
