Joseph Elmor Thomas

Joseph "Joe" Elmor Thomas, age 69, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at his home in Epworth, Georgia. Joe was born on July 10, 1956 to the late Joseph Jack and Diane Jarrel Thomas in Michigan. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Thomas; sons, Brian (Karly) Thomas and Jason Thomas; sister, Pattie Thomas; step brothers, Micheal Thomas and Allen Thomas and a half sister, Melodie Thomas. Many other extended family members and friends also survive.

If you knew Joe, you knew a good man and had a good friend. He was fully devoted to his family. He was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church, Epworth, Georgia. He was a serious student of the Bible, always seeking to learn more from God's word. Joe enjoyed traveling the highways and by ways of America during his years as a commercial truck driver. He was also a respected installer of vinyl siding during part of his working career. He was truly a craftsman, taking pride in a job done well. In his younger years, he enjoyed being out in God's wonderful world of created nature as a hunter and fisherman. You could often be gotten by his wry sense of humor creating smiles and laughter for others.

A memorial service is scheduled to be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 1:00 P.M., at First Baptist Church, Epworth, Georgia with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating and music in song provided by Vernon Owenby. Joe's family will be receiving friends in a time of visitation on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the First Baptist Church, 447 Madola Road, Epworth, Georgia from 11:30 A.M. until the 1:00 P.M. memorial service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joe's memory can be made to the First Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 187, Epworth, Georgia 30541.
