Joy Burdette Conley

Joy Conley, age 80, of Robbinsville, North Carolina, passed away on August 4, 2026. She was born in Tapoco, North Carolina, on June 21, 1946, to the late Dock and Dorothy McKenzie Icenhower. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Conley Jr. 

Joy is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Gerald) Garland; brothers, Bruce (Brenda) Icenhower and John (Donna) Icenhower; sister, Lorna (Joe) Sellers; grandchildren, Jacob (Sarah Knight) Garland, Matthew (Macy) Garland and Willie Garland; great grandchildren, Samantha Garland, Sarella Garland, Shay (Kade) Guffey, Hunter (Sara) Garland, Ty Garland, and Haley (Charlie) Nations; and nine great great grandchildren. Many additional extended family members also survive.

Joy was a very appropriate name for her because she brought joy to all those around her. She was deeply devoted to her family with an abiding love. Joy was gifted at crocheting baby blankets and sharing them with many expectant parents over the years. Her cooking skills were well known to many. She was a dedicated Christian who lived her faith. She was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church. 

A memorial service honoring her life is scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. from the Lone Oak Baptist Church in Robbinsville, North Carolina, with Rev. Onley Williams and Rev. Randy Collins officiating. Music will be provided by Gayle Garland. Mrs. Conley was buried in the Lower Yellow Creek Cemetery in Robbinsville, North Carolina.
