June "Bayo" - "Junebug" Woodward

April 21, 1935 — December 2, 2023

McCaysville, GA

June "Bayo" "Junebug" Woodward, age 88, departed this earthly life on December 2, 2023 at the Life Care Nursing facility in Ducktown, TN.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore "Sweat" Woodward and Pearl Standridge Woodward; Brothers and Sister in Laws: Charles Ray (Marjorie) Woodward, Joe (Darlene) Woodward; Nephew, Teddy Woodward and Best Friend, Benny Fisher.

"Bayo" loved and cherished her Cabbage Patch Dolls.  Her very first doll was named Benny Fisher Jr. in memory of her very best friend.  She grew up with all her nieces and nephews in their younger years where she spent time playing, riding bikes and making mud pies with them.  When all the younger nieces and nephews reached adulthood, they continued to love on her, baby her and do their very best at spoiling her.  She was an annual participant in the Special Olympics in her younger years which gave her great pleasure.  Elvis Presley never had a bigger fan than "Bayo". After the death of her parents, she resided with her brothers and sisters in laws for 32 years. "Bayo" spent time at the Mineral Springs Center daily for decades where she made lasting friendships, worked on crafts and traveled on many field trips.  When "Bayo" entered the nursing facility five years ago, she became known as "Junebug" to all the staff and residents.  She always greeted the early morning shift and waited for them to bring her 5am coffee.  Then, she would enjoy midnight meals with the late shift.

June is survived by her nieces and nephew; Pam (Dale) Hopkins, Tina (Lynn) Cheek, Terri Moss, Trisha (Doug) Bagwell  Paula (Russell) Dunlap, and Tim (Tammy) Woodward.  Several other great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 2pm from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Gary Parris and Rev. Don Padgett officiating.  Vocalist will be Brittany Hopkins and Karen Hensely will serve as instrumentalist.  Interment will follow the service in the Copper Ridge Memorial Gardens.
