It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Melissa George, a beloved mother, grandmother, and educator, who departed this life on February 26, 2026, at the age of 57. Born on August 2, 1968, in Copperhill, Tennessee, to the late Young and Anna Postell, Karen made her home in Mineral Bluff, Georgia, where she dedicated her life to her family and her passion for teaching.
A proud holder of a Master's Degree, Karen devoted many years to the field of education, with a special affinity for teaching first grade, where she shaped the lives of countless young minds within the Fannin County Schools. Her gentle spirit and unwavering commitment to her students were hallmarks of her illustrious career.
Karen was a devout member of Salem #2 Baptist Church, where her faith and love for her community flourished. Known as a simple yet profoundly loving Southern Baptist lady, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her church and friends, revealing her kindness and generosity to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Her greatest joy was found in her role as a Nana, a title she cherished above all others. She is survived by her daughters, Hayley (Josh) Lowe and Cally Nichols; her son, Isaac (Olivia Ray) George; her grandchildren, Macy Lowe, Evie Lowe, Alana Lowe, Nathan Lowe, and Katie (Anthony) Quinn; as well as her great-grandchildren, Michael and Natalie Quinn. She also leaves behind a dear niece, Susan (Sean) Ratcliff.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffery George; parents, Young and Anna Postell; brothers Michael (Dee) Postell and Paul Ray Postell; and son, Trent Miller.
Karen had a deep appreciation for the serenity of the beach, where she felt a sense of peace and connection to nature and to her loved ones.
Visitation will be held on March 1, 2026, at 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the Salem #2 Baptist Church in Mineral Bluff, GA, with Rev. Brett Cutris and Rev. Randy Hooper officiating. The Caylor family will provide music. Burial will take place at the cemetery immediately following the service.
The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers; Joshua Lowe, Isaac George, Nathan Pless, Josh McFarland, Aaron Lewis and Travis Sisson.
The family invites all who knew and loved Karen to join in celebrating her life and legacy, as we honor a remarkable woman whose love, faith, and dedication will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched.
