Kirk Henke

Kirk Daniel Henke passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in his home in Young Harris, GA.

Kirk was born on November 1st, 1955, and spent his early years in Florida fishing, getting into mischief, and perfecting his skills as a concrete mason. He took great pride in his work and earned a reputation as one of the best in the business, and he carried that with him when he, along with his wife Emily and daughters Ashli and Amanda, moved to the North Georgia mountains in 1994. This mountain paradise would be Kirk’s home for the next thirty years.

As a husband, a father, a man of faith, a tradesman, a musician, a prankster, a gardener, a role model, and a friend to all, his Faith in God, devotion to his family, humor, selflessness, and resilience guided his life.

For over 25 years, he served in several ministries that were close to his heart including missions, music, and the local detention center where he could minister to young adults in need of guidance. A true outdoorsman, Kirk found fulfillment in nature, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time.

Kirk is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years Emily Johnson Henke; daughters Ashli Wood and Amanda Henke; grandchildren Colton, Caydon, and Ava Wood; and sister Linda Pierce and brother Glenn Henke.

The family will have a celebration of life on June 29th between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm at Eastgate Church in Hiawassee, GA
