Larry Edward Tomlinson

Larry Edward Tomlinson, Sr., age 80, of Blairsville, GA, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Born January 28, 1946, in Savannah, GA, to John Elmo Tomlinson, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Tomlinson, and raised in Brunswick, Larry became an Eagle Scout as a young man, later serving as a Scout leader himself. He graduated from Glynn Academy in 1964, and not long after, he was called to serve his country. Over the next twenty years, Larry served in the U.S. Army, including time in Korea and two tours in Germany, with service in both the Signal Corps and the Army Security Agency. He was also a charter member of the Military Intelligence Corps, rising to Chief Warrant Officer 3 before retiring in 1989. He carried that same steady discipline into a second career as a defense contractor, retiring from General Dynamics Information Technologies in 2010. After retirement, that discipline became devotion. At First Baptist Church, Blairsville, he took part in Sunday school and Bible study, served on the Beacon Mission Team, and volunteered with the Friends of Copper Basin Crisis Center.

In 1969, Larry married his beloved Mary Gail Price, and for the next forty-four years they built a life grounded in faith. They welcomed their son, Larry Jr., in December 1981, and on March 24, 2014, Larry said goodbye to his Gail when she was called home to the Lord. In the years that followed, Larry found purpose in walking alongside others through grief, serving as a facilitator for the church's GriefShare program. It was there that he met Cynthia Ellen Sills Reynolds of Blairsville, and on December 9, 2019, the two were married. The two shared nearly seven joyful years together, and her steady care and love were a gift he cherished every day.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cyndi; his son Larry Tomlinson, Jr.; and his sister-in-law Pat Tomlinson, of Hiawassee, GA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4,2026, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Blairsville with Pastor Ricky Powell officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 4,2026, from 1:00-2:00pm at First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

Larry will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery, with honors rendered by the 3rd Infantry Regiment (Old Guard).
