Margie Hooper

Margie Sue Hooper, age 73, of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2023, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. 

Margie was born March 2, 1949, in Young Harris, GA to the late Walter and Alma Gibson. Margie was preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua Hooper; sister, Tresia Copeland Gibson; and brother, Wayne Gibson. 

She is survived by her spouse of 54 years, Larry Hooper; son Darrin (Drinda) Hooper; son Mark Hooper; grandson Jeremiah Hooper; granddaughter Lindsey Hooper; great-grandson Wyatt Nicholson; brother Bill Gibson; brother Alvin Gibson; brother Tommy Kuykendall; special nieces whom she loved as her own, Meka and Marlee.

She was a member of Woods Grove Baptist Church. Margie loved sports and held the record in Towns county for the most two-point shots in Towns County in a single game.  Margie deeply loved her family and was a caring mom to her children and was like a momma to everyone she encountered. Margie was one of the most selfless and genuine ladies to everyone who knew her. 

Funeral Service, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home Hiawassee Chapel with Rev Ricky Rogers officiating. Music provided by Ben, Shawna Collins and Family. Interment will follow in the Woods Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Jeremiah Hooper, Delin Brown, Jerome Burch, Chad Gibson, Blake Chastain, and Brian Forrester.

The family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawasse, Monday February 20, 2023, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
