Marilyn Elizabeth Jenkins Thomasson, age 90, wife of the late James Homer Thomasson, passed away on April 11, 2026. Marilyn was born on August 5, 1935, in Blairsville, Georgia. The daughter of the late Charlie S. Jenkins and Evia Souther Jenkins.
Marilyn was a member of First Baptist Church, Blairsville, Georgia.
Marilyn was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and recently, great-grandmother.
She attended Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia, after which she was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Homer, employed as a FBI agent, in Washington, D.C.
The FBI then transferred Marilyn, Homer and their daughter, Cindy, to Illinois, where their second daughter, Pamela, was born. The family then transferred to Pennsylvania, West Virginia and a return to Atlanta, Georgia where Marilyn worked as an executive assistant to the CEO of Aegon Insurance Corporation. Following retirement, Marilyn and Homer returned to their hometown of Blairsville, Georgia where Marilyn enjoyed residing for over twenty years.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Bob) Shearin of Manhattan Beach, California and Pamela (Hollis) Townsend of Orlando, Fl; granddaughter, Nicole; grandsons James (Tabitha) and Joseph; great-granddaughter Gabriella; sister, Patti Jenkins Chambers; sisters-in-law Bonnie Jenkins and Jo Jenkins; brother-in-law Tom Battle; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, James Homer Thomasson; her parents, Charlie and Evia Jenkins; brothers Charles Jenkins, Ed Jenkins, and Kenneth Jenkins; and sister, Ella Jenkins Battle.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Blairsville Rock Chapel with Pastor Rick Jenkins officiating.
The family will recieve friends from 5:00-7:00pm, on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Cochran McDaniel Funeral Home & Crematories Blairsville Chapel.
Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Blairsville, Ga.
