After the family relocated to Atlanta with the Mennonite Central Committee in 1964 to be living witnesses to the full humanity of all people, especially "Negroes", Marjorie taught sewing as a volunteer at the Grady Homes Girls Club and served as matron at MCC's Mennonite House.
Marjorie was employed in several capacities of which she enjoyed most altering gowns for the Crystal's Bridal Shop, and sewing sales representatives' samples for the Frog Pond, a children's clothing manufacturer. After retiring in 1997 and moving to their new log home 'out Highway 2, she had part-time jobs at Burger King and The News Observer.
Marjorie always had her family in church. She often taught children's Sunday school and, while refusing to speak in public, she served frequently as a song leader, early on a capella.
