Mark Eben Mann

Mark E. Mann, 77, passed away on September 7, 2026, following several years of declining health. Mark shared 46 years of marriage with his wife, Caroline. He was a devoted husband, father to his daughter, Meghan, and a proud grandfather and bonus grandfather. His family remained an important part of his life throughout his 77 years.

Mark proudly served for 10 years in the United States Marine Corps, including service during the Vietnam War. Being a Marine was far more than a chapter of Mark's life. The values, pride, and identity he carried from his time in the Corps remained with him every day for the rest of his life.

Following his military service, Mark built a long career in telecommunications with BellSouth and later AT&T. Among the highlights of his career was working on telecommunications for the 1996 Centennial Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.

Outside of his career, Mark had a lifelong love of photography. In later years, that passion found a home through the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association, where photography became a meaningful creative outlet. Through his camera, he captured the landscapes, nature, and moments that caught his attention and shared the world as he saw it.

After several years of increasingly difficult health challenges, Mark passed away with Caroline by his side and family close at hand.

In keeping with Mark's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

Those wishing to honor Mark's memory are invited to make a donation to the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (BRMAA.org), an organization that provided an outlet for his photography, or to the USO (uso.org) or your favorite veterans nonprofit.
