Mr. Marvin Hampton Barnes, age 88, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007 at Fannin Regional Hospital. Mr. Barnes was born Tuesday, October 29, 1918 in Union Co., GA to the late Hillard Barnes and the late Ardella Potts Barnes. Marvin was a avid fisherman.
Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Martha & Roy Tipton of Blue Ridge, son, David Barnes of Blue Ridge, son & daughter-in-law, Marshall & Helen Barnes of Dallas, GA, sister, Margaret Payne of Blairsville, brother, John Barnes of Blairsville, brother, Doris Barnes of Temple, GA, sister, Lattie Legg of Blairsville, ten grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 7, 2007 at 2:00 pm from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Reverend Gerald Mathis officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: grandsons.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Saturday, October 6.
