Mary George

Mary O'Rourke George, 75, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of September 3rd after a long battle with cancer. She was born April 13,1951 in Brentwood, NY, to Thomas and Charlotte O'Rourke. Mary came to love Blairsville after moving from Snellville GA in 2006. She was a devout and faithful Christian. She was a member of house of Prayer Church, in Blairsville Georgia, since 2006.

Mary was a RN in the Neurology ICU at Vanderbilt University Hospital in the 80's, and retired in 1988; but never stopped using her skills to volunteer whenever needed, most recently at Church summer camps and Blairsville's Healing Hands Community clinic. As a devoted servant and follower of her Lord Jesus Christ over the years, she did missionary work in South GA women's prisons, went to Prague and the Czech Republic with the Jesus films promotions, she promoted military family support activities, and local, national women's ministries through Stonecroft Ministries. She sang in the House of Prayer choir and taught Sunday School there for years. Uncounted lives were changed.

Mary was preceded in death by both parents, and her brother Richard. She is survived by husband Nick, two brothers James and Thomas, and her 4 sons: Nick, Casey, Christopher, and Jonathan; 6 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she all loved so dearly.

Mary's Memorial service will be at House of Prayer Church in Blairsville on Thursday, September 10th at 11:00 am.
