Mary Leona Shore Gonsalves, 81, of Union and Fannin Counties, Georgia passed
away in the home of her daughter in Pound, Virginia on March 28, 2024.
Born on January 3, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Lorene
Shore. Survivors include one daughter, Heather (Cliff) Cauthorne and six
grandchildren Clifton “Trey”, John, Elijah, Mary, Zachariah, and Eden Cauthorne of
Pound, Virginia.
Mary graduated from West Fannin High School, Truett McConnell College, and
the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Home Economics.
She became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mary worked as a classroom teacher, nutrition educator, nurse, and caregiver.
Mary was of the Baptist faith.
She loved the mountains of North Georgia, and had many and varied interests.
Mary enjoyed talking with people. She had a special place in her heart for
children. Primarily, she loved her immediate and large extended family.
Memorial service to be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Calvary
Baptist Church of Clintwood, Virginia.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 12:00 pm at
Hemptown Baptist Church in Morganton, Georgia. Interment will follow in the
Hemptown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Mary Shore
Gonsalves may be made to Hemptown Cemetery Fund, c/o Damon Davenport
10623 Old Hwy. 76 Morganton, GA 30560.
