Mary Sue Moon

Mary Sue Moon, a beloved matriarch, cherished friend, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully at her home on April 20, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on January 30, 1938, in Georgia, Mary Sue spent her formative years in Monroe, where she graduated from Monroe High School. She later made her home in Blairsville, Georgia, where she cultivated a life filled with love, service, and devotion.

For many years, Mary Sue used her talents as a Medical Records Clerk, serving at Union General Hospital, Fannin Regional Hospital, and several local physician offices. She later worked at Union County Elementary School, where she touched the lives of countless students and families.

Mary Sue was a longstanding and devoted member of First Baptist Church Blairsville, where she taught Sunday School and participated eagerly in mission teams, embodying her deep faith and commitment to service. Her warmth and kindness extended beyond the church through her volunteer work at the Senior Center.

In her treasured moments at home, Mary Sue loved to play dominos with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. Family was the center of Mary Sue's world, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and togetherness.

Mary Sue was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Cook, brother, Albert Willis Baker; and husband of 61 years, Neal Moon.

Mary Sue is survived by her sons, Jeff (Julie Reagan) Moon, David (Diane) Moon, Jon Moon, and daughter Jill Wheeler, along with her grandchildren: Dustin Rogers, Jessica Moon, Dakota (Courtney) Wheeler, Alexa (Dustin) Higdon, Haley (Alex) Duca, and Fletcher Moon; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Rock Chapel with Pastor Ricky Powell Officiationg. Special music by Terry Hooper.

The family will recieve friends on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church Rock Chapel.
