Mr. Maynard Lee Loudermilk, age 77 of Turtletown, TN, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Life Care Center of Copper Basin. Mr. Loudermilk was born Thursday, December 5, 1929 in Polk Co., TN to the late Luther Loudermilk and the late Dollie Padgett Loudermilk. He was preceded in death by Mary K. Loudermilk, wife
He was awarded Bronze star for Heroism in the Korean War, "During the early morning hours of June 24, 1953 in the vicinity ofChal-Kol, Korea, a numerically superior enemy force, supported by heavy artillery and mortar fire, attacked company "K" positions on the main line of resistance. In the initial action Pvt. Loudermilk assumed command of a vital sector and rapidly deployed his men in effective positions. With complete disregard for his personal safety, he bravely moved from position to position, encouraging his men and directing their fire. Later, he courageously volunteered to enter a contested area to clear the forward bunkers and trenches of enemy troops who has penetrated the defensive line. He aggressively moved into the network of fortifications and although knocked down several times be exploding hand grenades mortally wounded four of the attackers in close combat.
His brave actions were instrumental in the defeat of the Assault"
Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Diane & Paul Ray White of Turtletown, TN, daughter & son-in-law, Pam & Gerald Wilcox of Turtletown, TN, brother & sister-in-law, Blake & Betty Loudermilk of Stansbury, sister, Imogene Grizzle of Turtletown, grandchild, Tanner Wilcox, grandchild, Ray Lynn White, grandchild, Karen Raper, great-grandchild, Eli White, great-grandchild, Kaylea White, great-grandchild, Trent Raper, great-grandchild, Dylan Raper.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2007 at 11:00AM from the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with the Reverend Renny Whittenbarger and Reverend Farris Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Mt Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. Military honors by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pall bearer include Mickey Loudermilk, Wayne Loudermilk, Dennis Wilcox, Charles Nicholson, Stephen Raper, Dylan Raper and Trent Raper Honorary Pallbearers include Bobby Carruth, Leslie Nicholson and Wayne Ledford

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Thursday, June 28.
