Michael Spratt Rivers, born on June 13, 1949 in Atlanta, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 5, 2026 in Mineral Bluff, Georgia, surrounded by loved ones. Mike served honorably in the US Navy as a Gunner's Mate on the USS Forrest Sherman for four years from 1969 to 1973. Upon completing his service, he went into the trucking industry as a dispatcher, where he worked for forty years before retiring.

Mike was a lifelong Georgia Tech football fan, attending countless games and knowing everything there is to know about their team. Some of his family's best memories with Mike are of their all-day outings to Bobby Dodd stadium to cheer the Yellow Jackets on. He was a devoted husband, caring father, friendly neighbor, and kind friend to those around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mable Rivers, and eight siblings and is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Rivers, and his three children, Chris, Mina, and Daniel.

Details for a celebration of life are being planned, and details will be sent out in the coming days.
